The special education program provides differentiated instruction for students with special needs. Varied instructional methods, activities and materials are used to enhance learning. The curriculum is adapted to meet the State Objectives of Learning.
The special education program works to develop reading skills such as word recognition, comprehension, critical analysis of materials and meaningful vocabulary. The program helps students know and understand number facts and processes and to use them in solving problems dealing with life situations. The program strives to help students develop a self concept that will enable them to view themselves more objectively as they move toward self-reliance and self direction.
